Without contact

This past week, I enjoyed my first Spring Break in Panama City Beach, FL. I lost my phone the second day that I arrived there and I was so miserable that entire day. I was without contact and all the plans that I had made before arriving seemed hopeless.

However, I experienced a freedom that I haven't felt in a long time. For a week, I was without contact from anyone more than ten feet from me. I wasn't readily available to everyone and that freaked my mother out the most with me being out of state. But it felt like each minute mattered, my face wasn't crammed in front of a screen and time moves slower.

And I enjoyed a 10 hour car ride back to Kentucky without a cell phone, which provoked much needed thought and meditation over my future. I made decisions about friendships, relationships, and career moves without outside influence because I had that chance to soul search and figure out what I wanted.

I challenge you all to go just one week without a cell phone and see where it takes you.
